Ring by Spring, baby
Y'alllllllll this was one of the sweetest proposals, EVER. I met Keaton way back - probably 3-4 years ago. He was the little brother of one of my closest friends from college. Keaton & Morgan met each other and started dating even before Keaton made the decision to attend school in Texas at Baylor. She ended up following him down to Waco a year later and also rushed the same sorority as me! All that to say -- I have gotten to watch their love story unfold and their lives transform over the past couple years. To say photographing their proposal was an honor to me is an understatement!
Keaton reached out to me about a month before he planned on proposing with the simple question,"Hey Cam! Are you free July 8th?" I knew IMMEDIATELY that he was planning a proposal and I simply replied "!!!!!!! is this what I think it is?!"
From there - Keaton planned the whole proposal from start to finish and did a fantastic job! The proposal was going to be at Fall Creek Vineyards in ATX on a perfect July summer day. He even called me and told me Morgan's favorite flowers, what type of petals he wanted on the ground, and what he wanted on the bench where he was going to propose. SO SWEET.
I headed to Austin Saturday morning after spending some time with my hubs & son. Once I got there, I stopped at Central Market to grab the flowers for the proposal (if you know me, you know that is my FAV ever to get flowers). You can basically build your own bouquet, stem by stem.
I headed to Fall Creek Winery in Driftwood early so that I would have plenty of time to setup and scout out where to shoot. It was STUNNING and so charming! I met up with the family hiding out in a room for a private tasting... it always makes these shoots more special getting to meet loved ones. Once Keaton and Morgan arrived and got seated, I snuck out and went to go setup. Keaton wrote a letter to Morgan and had me place it on the bench for her to read before he officially got down on one knee.. HOW PRECIOUS IS THAT. I scattered the red petals on the ground and got the bouquet of white roses set on the bench. Then.... I went to hide! I stood waiting for quite a bit because I went out extra early... and it was 105 degrees. Safe to say I was ~glistening~ I tried to get the proposal filmed on my phone while I was shooting but it overheated #texasproblems.
They walked out and he gave her the letter.... literal goosebumps. She started sobbing (of course) and then after she gathered herself, Keaton asked her to marry him!!! and SHE SAID YES! I popped out and started clicking 100 mph :)
Gosh it was so fun. We then did a mini engagement shoot and they were both emotional and giddy. I let them be and went to go share the news with the families that she said yes & they were getting MARRIED!!!
I am BIG on getting sneak peeks out to my clients either same day or within 24 hours so after all the excitement had settled, I headed out to my car and started importing all the photos. I got on the road and then sat down while eating dinner and edited a handful of images to handoff to the new fiancees :)
My work was officially done (at least for the day!). I headed back to Fort Worth and praised God on the way home for such a fun day, for the opportunity to be included in people's special moments, and for the gift of this photography business. I have a LOT to be grateful for!
